West Glenville Reformed Church: Minister to Families and Congregation (MFC)

This paid ministry position will contain two major areas of focus:

  1. Ministry to the families in the congregation with youth of all ages.
  2. Ministry to the whole congregation through calling and visitation and congregational care.
  • Youth and Family Ministry
The MFC will be responsible for working under the guidance of the Pastor to create an
ongoing program of ministry to families with youth of all ages. The overall goal will be to
minister to the youth of our congregation by ministering to the families in which they live.
Regular events and activities will be planned and executed by the MFC to further the
supporting role that our church plays in the lives of our families with children. It is the
hope that the MFC, with the help of the Holy Spirit, will act as the catalyst for faith
formation in the homes of our families. There will be a considerable amount of freedom
given to the MFC to devise and execute the program under the guidance of the Pastor.
  • Congregational Care
The MFC will serve as director of congregational care, visitation, and calling. As leader of
this ministry, the MFC will serve alongside the Pastor and the other members of the
congregation to be a part of a comprehensive congregational care program that serves the
pastoral needs of the entire community. This will involve home visits, hospital visits,
phone calls, sending cards, and covering emergency pastoral care needs at times when the
    Pastor is unavailable.
  • Other Expectations
The MFC will be expected to hold office hours at the same time as the Pastor and
Secretary to create an environment of collegiality and open communication. This will be
roughly one morning per week. The MFC will be expected to attend worship at West
Glenville Reformed Church as much as possible. The MFC will be expected to participate
in congregational events in an effort to become an integrated part of the faith community.
Salary, time off, vacations, and other specifics will be negotiated by the Personnel
    Committee based on candidate qualification.
  • Call the church at 518-399-9426 for further information.
